EYFS in the “Big Forest School!”

During the Autumn term EYFS children use the grassed area in front of the school building as their forest school. This is to introduce them to the routines, rules and type of activities they would be carrying out once they were ready to go to the “ Big Forest School”. During the Spring term  the start going to the “ big forest school” and the children have to be taught how to walk with a partner, stay together as a group and cross the small school road  on the way up to forest school ensuring they stay safe and able to  listen to their instructions. Once inside the children check out the pond and talk about their observations, they then walk around to the circle of logs and talk about the 5 golden rules and what activities they might do during the session.

During this term the children have enjoyed exploring the EYFS area by climbing the tree, climbing, jumping and crawling under the log. They have enjoyed digging for worms, looking for birds, cooking in the mud kitchen, finding the Gruffalo, finding bears, puzzle pieces,  making story maps and playing with their friends  too!  Check out how much fun they had…
