The Little Red Hen!
This week we have been reading a new traditional tale – ‘The Little Red Hen’.
In the story we noticed that none of the farm animals were willing to help the Hen to plant the Wheat he wanted. We enjoyed noticing that at the end of the story, despite the farm animals not helping the Hen with his jobs. The Hen found his kindness to share his loaf of bread with his friends.
We used this story to set up our own investigation of : Planting Wheat in Cotton rather then Soil. We want to investigate what will grow and how it will grow..
We had lots of fun placing the cotton wool at the bottom of the cup to act like a bed of soil, and planting our Wheat seeds carefully.
We wonder how our plants will grow…
