Oliver’s Vegetables, Archimboldo, Fruit & Vegetables …

This week we are exploring the story ‘Oliver’s Vegetables.’ We have been talking about the importance of healthy eating and why this is important. We have been cutting up cabbages, doing life drawings of pineapples (and then sampling the pineapple!) and in our writing we have been trying to trick the teacher by giving clues to our chosen vegetables e.g.it can make you cry …

We linked our learning to the artist ‘Giuseppe Arcimboldo’. The Italian artist created many self-portraits from fruit and vegetables. https://www.giuseppe-arcimboldo.org/

We decided to recreate his style of work and we created our own portraits from fruits and vegetables. The children had so much fun doing this, they have found it really funny looking at each others fruity faces!
