This week we have been doing work on numberlines. An example of some of my questioning and discussion is:- Jim is counting on a number line. He says 14 is in the middle of 10 and 20. Is he correct? How do you know? I then gave them sentence starters to say their reasoning.
Today the Owls have taken part in the world largest lesson. We talked about climate change and sustainable goals. We completed an activity where we designed and built walls, exploring the different ways that we can affect each other and our community through the things we build.
Today we created art work inspired by Jasper Johns 0-9 piece from 1960. We used primary colours then made secondary colours to paint numbers. The children were so focused and enjoyed creating their master pieces.

The Owl Class learnt about Abstract Art today. We looked at the work of ‘Beatriz Milhazes’, a contemporary artist. The children enjoyed using circles in a variety of different sizes and colours to create their own piece of abstract art in an interesting way.
The Owls have been working super hard to master login in and using Bug Club. They are becoming increasingly confident and are beginning to understand how important it is to keep passwords secret and log off properly.
This week we started our science topic Animals inc. humans. We have started looking at our senses and how we find out about the world around us. The children completed a range of activities from cutting and sticking a body together, labeling parts of the body and thinking about things they like to smell.
Lots of amazing learning this week. The Owls have been comparing numbers using the inequality sign, using temporal connectives and prepositions to write about some children at the park.
