Recognising coins

We have started to look at money and are trying to recognise the value of coins. We are practising counting in two’s, five’s and tens to count how much money we have altogether.

Animal Enclosures

We have been looking at where animals live and what they need. We have designed an enclosure for an animal to live in and thought carefully about what they will need. We look forward to making them.

Nelson Mandela

In history, we have been learning about significant individuals and we have completed some research about the changes Nelson Mandela made. We were very interested to learn about another person and sequenced the key events of his life on a timeline.

Families

In owl class we have been learning about different families and have discussed what our own families look like. We have produced some lovely written work about it and are looking forward to our next lesson.

Africa

We are learning about the world in which we live and have been looking at Africa and the animals and wildlife that we would expect to see there. We have learnt lots of facts and we will be doing some african paintings in art and design.

Temple Visit

We visited a temple and learnt lots about the sikh religion. Our guide showed us around the temple and we have done some lovely writing and drawings of the temple back in class.

In year one we have been doing lots of work in the garden. We have been looking after them carefully and making sure we water them every day.

In owl class we have started to look at fractions and have been learning about equal and unequal parts. We have explored this with shape and are doing really well.

Salt Dough Animals

As part of our safari topic, we learnt how to make salt dough and then sculpted them to make a range of safari animals such as lions, snakes and tigers.
